Carramore 10k is the first event in the prestigous Mayo League and when Gerry Ryan toed the start line the result wasn't going to be in doubt. Unfortunately this year there was a very low turn out - the wealth of races on the calendar means that people aren't travelling to races as much as in the past. I was actually surprised to see the Moy Half Marathon getting approval for the same weekend as Carramore. I would have thought the AAI permitting procedure was designed to prevent such a clash. Everything I've heard of Carramore indicates that it's a superb event so hopefully there will be more participation next year - I'll certainly be there if I'm healthy..
The race calendar is so chock a block recently that we have pretty much given up advertising races on the website here. However.. there are a few events coming up that look absolutely smashing to me so worth mentioning. Click Read more for more details.
Well done again to all the folk that competed in the 5k on Tuesday. I took a rough video of the race and it's below. There is probably some more good footage as well from Tony's lead car but I haven't round to meeting him yet to get it. Maybe there will be another version in the future! Very well done again - with special mention due to Mayo AC's Catherine Conway who set a new female course record of an excellent 17:34, beating Regina Casey's old mark by a few seconds.
I cant believe the improvements by so many this week in Craughwell !The Standard being shown by the juvaniles and the turnout it was amazing. This new course must be really easy .....
I might try it some time...Next Year! :-)
My Man of the Match is Tommy Niland Smashing his PB with 16:56!! Congrats Tommy.
Below are the provisional club times for the home run.
Well if there were any doubts in Newcastle, the record of the series of never having been run in the rain was definitely broken tonight. Nonetheless we had again over 500 finishers and a superb atmosphere despite the freakishly cold snap in the weather.

Once again John Cunniffe of Red Tag Timing has delivered the goods in exceptionally quick time with full provisional results within a coupole of hours of the finish of the race.
PB's abounded - the changed course seems a bit faster than the old one - as it is now a slightly downhill rather than uphill course.
Superb performances from "Tobin's babes" - the Juvenilles who guested in the race: Peadar Harvey, Conor Gillen, Matthew Moran, Alan Byrne and Finn Stoneman.
The closest possible battle up the front with Mayo AC's TJ and Timmy finishing on the same time.
